Many of the recordings heard on the "Folks Like Us" program are not readily available at mainstream record stores. It may take a bit of sleuthing to track down elusive CDs and tapes, but the music is definitely worth the time and effort. Here is a list of sources that can help you in your quest.

Elderly Instruments is a wonderfully comprehensive source of folk, bluegrass, blues, old timey, and international music recordings. Order by phone, mail, via the Web site ... or treat yourself to a visit to their mammoth store in Lansing. Request a free printed catalog of recordings, or check the constantly updated listing on their Web site.
Festival Distribution offers a wide selection of Canadian recordings by such artists as Nancy White, James Keelaghan, Stan Rogers, Ken Whiteley, Tom Lewis, and Connie Kaldor. Many other independent recordings from other countries are available as well.
Fish Records is a great source for some hard-to-find British recordings as well as music from other countries. Order by phone or through their Web site. And sign up for their free e-mail newsletter of reviews of new releases!
Folk Legacy Records, Inc.
Founded in 1961 by Sandy and Caroline Paton, Folk Legacy has been an important influence and source of traditional folk music recordings for close to 40 years. In addition to the numerous musicians recorded on the Folk Legacy label (Gordon Bok/Ann Mayo Muir/Ed Trickett, John Roberts & Tony Barrand, Cindy Kallet, Archie Fisher, Ian Robb, Bill Staines, Art Thieme, Harry Tuft, and Michael Cooney, just to name a few), traditional music recordings on other labels are also distributed.
The Mountain Apple Company
The Mountain Apple Company distributes the recordings of many Hawaiian musicians, including the often-requested recordings of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole ("Iz").
The next time you are headed up to Stratford, Ontario, take a short detour to visit this AMAZING store that specializes in Canadian music of all genres. NorthSide: Extradordinary Nordic Roots Music
NorthSide distributes great Scandinavian music from such artists as Väsen, Frifot, Groupa, Hoven Droven, and many others. Request their Nordic Roots sampler if you are not familiar with this exciting music.
The Waterbug label was founded by Andrew Calhoun in 1992 and has grown to offer an impressive list of singer-songwriters and traditional singers, including Chuck Brodsky, Margaret Christl, Kat Eggleston, Sara Grey, Cosy Sheridan, Art Thieme, and many more. Waterbug also distributes recordings from other independent artists.
